May 2010: The savings bank foundation DnB NOR has granted the New Oseberg Ship Foundation one million kroner.
"The Oseberg project is perfectly suited to the objective of the savings bank foundation. We support projects that generate involvement and excitement, and will prove valuable in the long-term, involve volunteers and contribute positively to children and young people. We are very pleased to be able to support and realise this project,” says district bank manager Terje Solvik in DnB Nor.
"This funding is crucial to the project. We are extremely grateful to the savings bank foundation for their generous contribution,” says chairman of the New Oseberg Ship Foundation, Einar Chr. Erlingsen.
"Research and communication are significant components in our project. The grant from the savings bank foundation will enhance our efforts in this respect. The New Oseberg Ship is part of Vestfold County Council’s focus on the Viking Age as an area for research, communication and development. In this respect our project is part of a larger whole that will focus on this important part of our country’s history and culture.”
"We have noted that Vestfold has previously been granted significant funding from the Savings bank foundation and were a bit worried that the county had received its due. So we were both surprised and happy to see that there was room for us, as well,” says Geir Røvik, head of the Oseberg project.
